Pre-Game Notes: Pens vs Avalanche

It’s a Hockey Night in Pittsburgh!

Tonight the Pens will take on the Avalanche at Consol Energy Center. This is the only time the teams will meet this season in Pittsburgh. The Pens won’t see Colorado again until March 3, 2012 (my birthday!!!) in Denver.

It’s a dreary day in the ‘burgh, but nothing but sunshine inside Console! Dedicated students are already lined up at noon to try and nab one of 500 Student Rush tickets that will be sold for tonight’s game.

Students Rushing!

Player updates for tonight’s game:

  • Dustin Jeffrey has been recalled to Pittsburgh from his conditioning assignment in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He sat on Saturday in WBS’s game as per the terms of his rehab for his knee injury.
  • Steve Sullivan participated in practice today. He left the game in Raleigh on Saturday early with a lower body injury and did not practice yesterday. He is listed as a game time decision for tonight.
  • Tyler Kennedy is getting stronger. He is stilled listed as a game time decision for tonight. He stated in practice today though that “I think I’m ready so we’ll see. I’ll talk to Dan (Bylsma) today and see what he says.” He did stress though that this is more his decision than anyone else’s in his pending return. (I would suspect that based on what we have heard, the same stands for Crosby. Please do not take that statement and run with it!)
  • Flower will be between the pipes tonight. Brent Johnson played on Saturday to give Fleury a rest since he played the previous night against Dallas.
  • Apparently Pascal Dupuis left the ice during practice for stitches, but is okay. No Duper Watch necessary!
  • Despite what people said yesterday that Head Coach Dan Bylsma didn’t rule out Crosby for tonight’s game, he will not be in the line-up and there is still no time table for his return.

When will we see this crew together? AND WHERE IS CRAIG M F'N ADAMS???

Puck drops at 7:30. Game is being broadcast on Versus. Dear Lord 8 lb 6 oz Baby Jesus, save us from Pierre McGuire between the benches. Woof.

It’s a good night to listen to Mike Lange on the radio with the TV muted.
